Betta Advocate Community
We’re creating a more collaborative advocacy space – a way for people to feel more involved while expanding our educational content on betta fish care and welfare. This will include guest speakers, interviews, panels, and live Q&As. If you have relevant experience, a topic you’d like to speak on, or are interested in hosting or moderating, we’d love to hear from you!
Welcome Advisory Contributor: Dr. Stacie Grannum, DVM
We’re excited to welcome Dr. Stacie Grannum, DVM, as a Veterinary Advisor to Betta World For Bettas. She’s already contributed educational resources to support our advocacy, including two flyers highlighting the welfare risks associated with selling betta fish in cups.
Fish as Prizes at Florida State Fair A community member reported that the Florida State Fair was giving out goldfish as prizes at the 2026 fair. This practice often leads to preventable suffering due to heat exposure, transport stress, and inadequate care once the fish are taken home.
