Driving Change For Fish

This month, we’ve been continuing our work to improve fish welfare through education, advocacy, and conversations with people working in fish care and welfare. Thank you for being part of this growing movement.

Read the latest article in our Ask a Vet series with veterinary advisor Dr. Stacie Grannum about dropsy in betta fish, what it is, and why it can be so difficult to treat.

New Interviews Posted

We recently released two new interviews on our YouTube channel covering fish health, welfare, and natural aquarium environments.

If you haven't already, subscribe to our YouTube channel to stay updated on future interviews with veterinarians, researchers, and other fish welfare professionals.

Betta Botanicals

In our interview with Ben from Betta Botanicals, we discuss how botanicals and other natural materials can influence water chemistry and fish behavior, and how they help create more natural environments for fish.

Dr. Noémie Hofman

We also spoke with WAVMA-certified veterinarian Dr. Noémie Hofman about fish health, common illnesses, and how proper care can help prevent many health problems.

Fish Rescue Spotlight: The Betta Garden

We launched our Fish Rescue Spotlight series to highlight a different fish rescue each month. This month, we’re featuring The Betta Garden, a Colorado-based rescue that rehabilitates and rehomes bettas and other fish.

Fish Are Not Prizes

With fair season approaching, many county fairs, carnivals, and festivals may be giving out live fish as prizes. This is a reminder that fish are living animals - not toys, decorations, or prizes.

If you see fish being given away as prizes, please report it through our Google Form.

Ways to Give

Check out our Ways to Give page which outlines the ways supporters can help advance our mission.

Whether through donations, volunteering, sharing our work, or other forms of support, every contribution helps us continue advocating for fish welfare.
