Join us in asking major pet retailers to end betta cups.
Small cup displays create serious welfare risks for betta fish, including poor water quality, chronic stress, illness, and death.
We're asking Petco, PetSmart, Pet Supplies Plus, and Pet Supermarket to publish a plan by March 2027 outlining how they will end betta cups across their stores, either by:

Transitioning to heated, filtered, tank-based holding systems, or
-
Ending the sale of betta fish.

Why?
Small, unfiltered cups allow waste to build up quickly and make it difficult to keep conditions stable, increasing the risk of stress, illness, and death.
Alternatives Exist
Better methods of displaying betta fish already exist, and major retailers have the resources to explore them.
