The cup display method is not working

At major pet chains, betta fish are sold in tiny plastic cups. Waste and uneaten food break down into toxic ammonia, and the low water volume leads to a rapid buildup of toxins. While daily water changes are essential to prevent harm, this care is often neglected in busy retail environments.

Systemic Problem

Watch this video exposing betta fish neglect at a number of Petco and PetSmart locations, highlighting that this is a widespread problem.

There are other ways

Betta fish don't have to be sold in cups. In fact, in some countries this display method is nonexistent. We explore and showcase alternative methods for displaying betta fish and encourage people to support local pet stores that have higher standards of care.
